Warning . . . What you are about to look at will probably make you hungry and it will probably make you want to do a very irrational thing, such as by an airplane ticket and fly to Denver for lunch!

Trav and I happen to be in Colorado for a few days for a conference and we flew into Denver, decided to go to lunch at a little place called Steuben's and we will never be the same!

(FYI- this is my first mobile post from my iphone, I'm pretty excited about the simplicity of it, but obviously the photo quality suffers, at least I posted!)

Steuben's is an old auto shop turned restaurant that serves classic American food in one of the most visually delicious settings I've ever dined in.

From the exposed ceilings, to the funky brown retro bar stools, the robin egg blue and creme color scheme, retro blue top tables . . .

. . . arched lights, glass garage doors, vintage print art, wood paneled walls, bar full of cool old bottles and glassware, and 70's church lights it's a feast without even touching your food!

They serve you water in these pretty glass bottles

they serve you French fries in these vintage tins . . . seriously. We had the lobster roll with fries, these fries . . . so tiny and dainty and precious, so crunchy and tender and salty, they shouldn't be called fries, they are hereby and henceforth to be called fritz, cause that is the name due them. They are in a league of their own.

Also hush puppies from heaven, with sugar on top . . . literally. Best puppies I've ever had, not saying I've had a lot of puppies, I'm a California girl afterall, but in my book these are winners.

What else, oh a green chile cheeseburger and Mac & cheese, oh yeah!

I rarely find a place that delivers inspiring food and inspiring design and when I do I get really really really excited! I even took pictures of the bathroom . . .

. . . the bathroom door sign is darling . . . ? ? ? How did they do it? I am so impressed.

Homako is a Japanese born designer of handmade goodness . . . 

I've been stocking her store for a while, dreaming of the day that I get to hang one of these beauties around my neck . . . 

Then, last week, I bought this one for my friend for her birthday.

It was even better in person. I love the green, it's such a fun statement piece and it looked so good on my friend:)

They look like little candies, I wish I could eat them . . . nevermind.

 I think that these are my favorite . . . anthropologie got smart and sold one of these necklaces at their store.

Hello again, it's been a while . . . It's been an interesting year with a lot of transition and a lot of life to live and when I'm busy and behind with work, the blog is the first thing to go. Neverless, I still love the blog, an outlet and a place to share my heart and my art with you all and so I'm making a new push to blog more often. I'm going to catch you up on work I've done over the last year and new stuff I'm up to now. You inevitably will see a lot of my family, because I love them more than I love photography :)

These photos were taken at an extended family vacation over the summer. I blew this first one up as a 30x40 in our living room. I love it! We got so wind blown . . . it was wonderful :)

So . . . I should have blogged about this a while ago, but things have been crazy, so here it is . . . last minute. My husband took a trip to the South Sudan back in November and came home inspired to do something. The need is so great there, but it's amazing the impact we can have on others if we just use what we have. So he spoke with a friend John Mark McMillan about a music tour in California to raise money to dig wells in the Sudan. John Mark was very excited about it and after contacting Aaron Strumpel it was on! We are now in the middle of the tour, We've played in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, Bakersfield, we are playing tomorrow night in Visalia at the Cellar Door 8pm $5 cover, 21+, and two more shows in Redding and Fresno. I'm in the dirty south

Travis and I are currently in North Carolina. We are putting together a fundraiser tour with a few musicians to raise money to dig three wells in the south Sudan. The first show was last night here in North Carolina featuring John Mark McMillan, Mark Mathis, Travis & Flagship Brigade. It was so much fun! We had over 300 people come out and we raised a bunch of money for the wells!
For more info you can go to Radiant Church, there is a video on there that's awesome, watch it! Now we are hanging out with John Mark & Sarah who are awesome musicians and friends. They have been inducting us in the ways of the dirty south:) So far we have had fried pickles, hush puppies, sweet potatoe fries, good hamburgers, cheerwine, good fish & chips and there is more to come! I think we are going to a soda shop. Their place is sweet and they have a great porch (photo above) the wind is blowing the leaves up the street and it feels very nostalgic here. I love it. We are enjoying re-connecting with all our sweet friends that we met during the summer of love tour, and we are enjoying good rest and great conversation. Everyone here is either an artist or musician and it's very inspiring! I'm not ready to come home yet:)

I won an award! I won an Accolade of Excellence in the Wedding & Portrait Photographers International 8x10 print competition for 2007! "Ain't Love a Kick?" is the winning photo! I apologize for the lapse in blogging. I will provide a photography blog soon, but for now I wanted to wish you all a very happy and meaningful Thanksgiving! What an awesome holiday, to set a day aside to be thankful. Sometimes the beauty of it can be lost but it really is beautiful. I am very thankful. I am thankful for the kindness of God, my husband who is lovely to me in every way (who was not with us today:( I'll explain later.), my precious Avery Quinn who keeps getting cuter and more dear by the second, both of our steadfast families, our off-the-chart friends, our church family, my clients and the list goes on. I am also thankful for you today, the "readers of the blog", I am thankful to be a child of God, all made in the image of God to be a reflection of his glory and I see that reflection in you, so thanks . . . for being you.

My husband has been in the south Sudan for two weeks (he is raising money to dig a well there) and I pick him up at the airport tomorrow! So Avery and I are very excited and thankful for that! Blessings to you all and may God satisfy your souls!

So back in August we had our annual aicklen family vacation. We camp on the beach in San Diego, it's always a blast and a welcome break from the summer heat and wedding season. It always ends up being a fun eclectic group . . . this year Joey and Katie hill came for a few days with their precious son Judah, the Norwoods also stopped in for a day of beach play. It was a great time and Avery loved the ocean and the sand, she became obsessed with sea weed and wanted to pop all of the sea weed bulbs. It was pretty funny! Here are a few black and whites of Travis and Avery that I love from this trip.

I declare that it's officially fall, my favorite time if year! I'm just going to say it's so and hopefully the weather will begin to cooperate with me. My pumpkins are almost here, which means that it's time for fall photos. We had so much fun with this last year, the pumpkins that I bring in are incredible, warty, deep orange, green, green and white striped, white and those big huge cinderella pumpkins! I had the priveledge of second shooting a wedding with Michael Norwood in Beverly Hills last month. Michelle and Otis' wedding was incredible! Greystone Mansion was exquisite with amazing grounds, the details were impeccable, the food was fun, half the guests wore hats and the dancing was off the hook! I think I got a little carried away, but there were so many fun things I wanted you to see that I just had to post a lot of pics! Thanks Michael! And thanks to Michelle & Otis!

The parents of the groom had a big anniversary around the corner, so the bride and groom surprised them with a vow renewal ceremony in the middle of there reception! The minister walked them through vows, a kiss and a first dance. It was very sweet.

So, there is a game going around on photographers blogs, where you have to tell 8 things about yourself that other people don't know. Michael Norwood tagged me, so here it goes . . .

1. When I was about three or four my sister fed me dog poo as a joke. I got sick and she had to give me her new set of markers as consolation. It was pretty crazy.

2. I was an extra in the movie "The Adams Family Values". Yes, it is the sequal. Christina Ricci didn't like me very much, not sure why.

3. My guilty pleasure is Justin Timberlake and really hip hop in general. I went and saw him in concert this year with my friend Catalina, it was amazing.

4. I spent the first 15 years of my life in a dance studio for about 4 hours a day. Ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, I love to dance . . . and I watch "So you think you can dance" and I think to myself . . . "I could totally do that" . . . even though I really can't!

6. Confession: I have watched "You've got mail" about fifty times. It is one of the cutest movies ever made.

7. I met my husband in kindergarten. No, it wasn't love at first sight. We didn't start dating until we were 21, but I have known him my whole life. He is lovely in every way.

8. When I was 14 I auditioned for the role of Topanga on Boy Meets World, and I actually made it to call backs. Matt Sampietro likes to still call me Topanga, it's pretty funny. Thank the good Lord that didn't happen.

Ashlie & Braden were married at the Grand Island Mansion in Walnut Grove. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful is all I can say! The area was so serene, the mansion was breathtaking and the event was exquisite. I feel so honored to have been there.

What a beautiful couple and a beautiful day! Jacob and Jessica Yavisille were married at Jacob's childhood home which is a log cabin! Attention was given to every detail, the ceremony took place on a large pond in the front yard and the reception was set up under white tents. Tulip did all the florals and she is off the hook, the table tops were amazing and the dancing went into the wee hours of the night. It was breathtaking. Thanks Jake & Jess! So glad that I got to be a part!

Mike and Katie's wedding was so beautiful. It was so sincere and moving, I was brought to tears! It was a precious evening full of spirit and beauty. Their was a strong sense of family reflected in details like her grandparents bible and cake topper, this along with the natural colors they chose inspired nostalgia. So I took the photography in a vintage direction. I love these photographs.

Jen and I snuck out the morning of Danielle and David's shoot and we hit the road, excited to do the thing we love. We found the coolest spots, some colorful old cars, and some amazing buildings. It's crazy how little I actually get to do this, shoot for myself without any objective or work involved. This time we were eachothers subjects, which I have to admit, was not the most comfortable thing:) Jen was beautiful and gracious and she should get in front of the lens more often! It was very fun shooting someone as dynamic as Jen, she is so overflowing with life and charm, hopefully you can see a bit of that in these images. Thanks Jen, you are so inspiring! Love ya!

Ok, I know it's been weeks since my last post. I apologize, time slipped away, I'll make up for it, I promise! On to important things!

Megan and Jonathan, what a wonderful and precious couple! This engagement shoot was long in coming, we packed up, started exploring, stopped off at a starbuck for a quick boost. Megan was filling me in on wedding details and some of their story. Forgive me Megan if I mess up any of the info, but these guys have been dating for almost four years and they have never kissed! They are saving their first kiss for their wedding day! I can't wait to photograph it! They were so sweet with eachother on the shoot, I kept over hearing Jonathan tell her "you look pretty". They ran across highways and climbed fences for me, thanks for some great memories you guys, you're a rockin couple! I'm so glad you found eachother. Take a look at our little adventure.

Marissa Van Groningen is graduating from Point Loma University and she came all the way to V-town so that I could shoot some photos of her! I actually shot her high school graduation photos, so it was super fun to get to do these. She is gorgeous, action-packed and downright hilarious! We had too much fun. CD Release Show

So . . . tonight was a big night for my husband.

Over a year ago, he partnered with a good friend Aaron Estes to record five songs that he had written. So tonight, we finally had the long awaited CD release show.

We worked all day making home made covers for the cd's, with the help of many friends. Thanks to Jesse Weiss for the amazing artwork, we will cherish it forever. Thanks also to "the band" for all the time put in, it was fun having you around so much. And thanks to all who came out to support. We had so much fun and it was so great sharing it with friends and family!

I wanted to take this opportunity to brag about my husband. Not only does he have the most incredible heart, but he is an artist in so many ways, full of creativity, my inspiration and a complete pleasure to be around. I love living life with you and I would follow you to the ends of the earth :) Thanks for risking!

What a great day! I found myself overwhelmingly thankful for the resurrection of Jesus Christ, for the way out that He has made for us and the life we now live because of Him. All of this joy, all of this peace, all of this hope, all of this comfort, having nothing to do with circumstances, but everything to do with being accepted by God! Aaahh! It's worth celebrating! It was also Avery's 2nd Easter and really the first one she was able to participate in, so we had lots of fun. Here are some family photos.

Cole is such a precious boy! One of the best things about my job is being able to grow with my clients. A couple years ago I shot Geoff and Gina Littleton's wedding, then I had the priveledge of shooting her maternity photos and now here we are and Cole is 6 months old. I just got back from my week in Las Vegas for the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International convention. I've never slept so little in my life! I had a great time meeting up with my friends from the Mike Colon Intensive I did in February. I went to some great seminars and saw some awesome products at the trade show. I also met up with Jen Manuele and celebrated her birthday. Here are some photos we took in a photo booth at the show. We held the record for the most people squeezed into the photo booth! I'll post some more photos from the trip in the near future.
